Schneider Electric, the global leader in energy technology, and Seclab, Europe’s leading OT cybersecurity company, are strengthening their collaboration to protect critical industrial infrastructure beyond purely software-based defenses.

As cyber threats continue to escalate and AI accelerates vulnerability discovery, a hardware-based approach, with no lines of code involved, is necessary to sustain a consistent level of security over time. To meet this need, the two companies are adapting Seclab’s technology to Schneider Electric’s automation architectures. The result: fine-grained application-layer filtering of industrial protocols exchanged between PLCs, DCS, and SIS, delivered through a hardware-based protocol break device, deployed and maintained by Schneider Electric’s OT cybersecurity teams in Europe.

This collaboration has resulted in a configuration dedicated to securing Schneider Electric’s OT protocols. Placed in-line with critical exchanges, the device ensures a hardware-based protocol break and only allows communications strictly necessary to the process. Tests conducted on Schneider Electric’s platforms confirmed the application-layer filtering, proper operation in redundancy, and the absence of any perceptible latency for the process.
